On December 9th, 2020, suddenly and unexpectedly, Fluffy, my 3 year-old sphynx cat, died due to undiagnosed hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). This is a common and often undiagnosed cardiac defect seen in the sphynx breed.
Fluffy was a beautiful soul, and he helped me become who I am today. He had a grand personality, and always let me know what he wanted to do (like when it was time to wake up, when it was play time, or when it was snack time).
Fluffy was hilarious, energetic, sassy at times, silly, very clumsy (did not have those "cat-like" reflexes), talkative, very cuddly, and loving. He hated the feeling of grass on his toes. He loved the summer and the warmth of the sun on his face. He was shy around new people (would tuck his eyes into my arms to hide from strangers). He loved to sit in the bathtub after you showered. He loved to touch the TV screen with his paws. He loved car rides and would fall asleep immediately when the car was in motion. He was accepting of bath time (if the water was warm enough). He didn't like to be alone. He loved carbonated water (except when the bubbles popped on his nose). He loved to explore new and exciting places. He loved to bird watch. He loved to mouse hunt. He didn't like it if you sat outside without him. He hated getting his ears cleaned. He loved nap time. He loved play time. His favourite toy was his "little green toy" wand. He loved to sit in his toy box (called him "lil bucket boy"). Every day and night he cuddled and slept with his mommy (me).
He has many beloved nicknames: Fluffy, Lord Fluffs, Lord Flufferton, Floofs, Mr. Floofy, Lil Coconut, Broby, Brobes, Brogu, Spyro, Lil Bucket Boy, Rabbit Feet, Little Dinosaur... the list goes on.
Fluffy is so special and so very much loved by many.
He is immensely missed.
My heart will never be whole without him.
